My Colorado™ Project

Community Shares is developing an online community investment portal, My Colorado Project, built around the giving preferences of younger donors. According to our recent survey of young donor preferences: 67% prefer to donate online; 60% want to be involved beyond financial investment; 55% believe giving should be fun; and, 75% say giving makes them feel like part of a community. My Colorado Project empowers the most exciting characteristic of the next generation of donors - their interest in leveraging technology to connect, network, communicate and collaborate. My Colorado is a space where social media and social good collide to create a community where philanthropy is fun, collaborative, and meaningful.
Core Themes:
- Move from transaction philanthropy (click here to change the world) to transformational philanthropy that is a living reflection of who you are.
- Includes elements of social media networks built to invite younger donors to explore individual giving interests and invite their friends to get involved.
- In creating a profile on the site, users will be guided to identify their top values and issues, write a personal mission statement, and develop a Personal Philanthropy Plan.
- Individuals can also create their own giving funds featuring up to four 501(c)(3) organizations and invite their friends and family to give as little as $5 each month to the fund.
