My Colorado engages tomorrow’s donors today by inspiring thoughtful
community investment and leadership in Colorado’s next generation of
philanthropists.

The development of the next generation of philanthropists and community
leaders is essential to the local culture of giving. The purpose of My
Colorado is to better address the needs and interests of young,
entry-level donors starting in the Denver Metro region, eventually
having a statewide outreach. Rather than following the traditional
fundraising model of seeking a gift from those with means, My Colorado
proposes offering young people the means to give. We will accomplish
through a state of the art website and social networking events.
My Colorado will launch on January 1, 2008.
My Colorado Social Networking Events
My Colorado will feature social networking events, launched at various venues around Denver. The focus of the social
network will be to bring a personal component to My Colorado and build
its peer to peer outreach and connection to the community.
My Colorado Website
We are currently developing an interactive website
that can be easily and efficiently used by individuals, affinity groups, and
community organizations for this program. Users will be able to set up personal philanthropy profiles, talk to other members, track their
participation, view board service and volunteer project opportunities, and
donate to causes they care about. Participation metrics include: $ donated,
board service hours, volunteer hours, difference made (i.e. 15.5 children
received inoculation shots so far). Charities would also be able to
create their own profiles to connect with users through My Colorado.
Automatic Giving Plans will allow users to donate from a checking account or credit card,
and easily move within the site to pursue and track further participation.
The website will also serve as an online
marketplace for users to learn about issues and discuss them, etc.
These "Cause Channels" (e.g. environment, health care, homeless issues, etc.)
will direct users to the charities and causes they care about most.
