Credit Union Harvest Run/ Walk
For Immediate Release September 10, 2007
Broomfield, CO - Over 220 runners, walkers, and families braved the chilly
weather and joined Community Shares and ten local credit unions for the 2007
Credit Union Harvest Run/Walk on Sunday, September 9. This exciting 5K run/walk
event in Broomfield also featured a Kids Fun Run, an Expo with local businesses
and nonprofits, and great awards for the winners.
This year’s event is estimated to have raised over $10,000 for Community Shares
of Colorado, a local nonprofit dedicated to connecting Colorado residents to the
charities they care about most. "Not only does the Harvest Run benefit Community
Shares and our work inspiring philanthropy, the event itself is a fun,
family-friendly opportunity to interact with local nonprofit organizations
building a stronger community,” said Alyssa Kopf, Interim CEO of Community
Shares.
Major event sponsors included the Boulder Running Company, Renaissance Boulder
Suites Hotel, Rainbow Rewards, and Automotive Avenues. Food and beverage
sponsors included Panera Bread, Boulder Sausage, Left Hand Brewing Company,
Aspen Water, and Mountain High Yogurt. Participants were treated to goodie bags,
food and beverage, and even a beer garden to enjoy after completing the 5K.
The Harvest Run/Walk is led by Chair Steve Carr from Boulder Valley Credit Union
and representatives from the sponsoring credit unions. Carr remarked, “The
Harvest Run/Walk is a perfect example of how credit unions work together
cooperatively for a common cause. This one event helped many through its support
of Community Shares of Colorado, and demonstrated how credit unions continue to
make a difference in our communities."
