Alyssa Kopf Named CEO of Prominent Community Giving Fund

For Immediate Release – March 26, 2008

Denver, CO – Community Shares of Colorado (CSC), a nonprofit community giving fund that raises more than 1.5 million dollars annually for local charities has a new Chief Executive Officer.  On March 12, 2008, the Community Shares of Colorado Board of Directors unanimously voted to hire Deputy Director Alyssa Kopf as Chief Executive Officer of the community giving fund.

Community Shares works to build a more vital and vibrant community by inspiring philanthropy and connecting individuals, nonprofit organizations, foundations, local governments, community groups and businesses.  Utilizing incremental giving options such as paycheck contributions and monthly electronic funds transfer, Community Shares offers accessible and efficient giving options to all who wish to make an impact.

Alyssa joined Community Shares in 2002 and is considered a major factor in the organization’s largest growth period featuring a 55% increase in campaign pledges over the past five years.  Board president Lisa Pedersen said, “We believe Alyssa brings the passion, intelligence, and vision to guide Community Shares in a time of changing workforce structures and exciting advances in e-philanthropy.  Alyssa is deeply rooted in our organization’s core values of inclusivity and community-based philanthropy.  She will be uniquely able to ensure our organization’s history is reflected in our future.”

Leslie Foster, President and CEO of The Gathering Place, voiced her support of Alyssa’s capacity to lead the organization.  “I could not be more pleased than to see Alyssa at the helm of Community Shares.  Alyssa is enormously talented and a natural leader with an unwavering commitment to our organization.”  The Gathering Place is Denver’s only drop-in day shelter for women and children and one of Community Shares’ 112 member organizations.

Alyssa Kopf looks forward to expanding Community Shares’ reach beyond workplace giving campaigns and offering a complimentary set of philanthropic services as a dynamic community giving fund.  “I am enthusiastic in embracing the chance to lead an organization where I have the good fortune to learn, serve, and be inspired every day.  We will continue to seek new opportunities to connect Coloradans to the charities and causes they care about most.”
