GET INVOLVED
phi-lan-thro-pist:
At Community Shares, we believe a philanthropist is not defined by the amount of the gift but by the inspiration that motivates it.

"I first felt like a philanthropist when:
...I gave $5 to the Humane Society in elementary school!" ~ Emily Arell,
Colorado Consumer Health Initiative
...I decided that just working for a non-profit wasn't enough. I have my
favorite organizations and I send
what I can when they ask me. I do feel like it makes me more involved. I know
every little bit helps!"
~ Katie Groke Ellis, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains
...I pledged $10 per month for 2 years to the Chinook Fund. It was the
largest pledge or cumulative
donation I had ever made." ~ Barb Van Hoy, Citizen’s Project
...I was working as a television news reporter and realized I needed to do
more with the tales I was telling.
Too few opportunities exist in the news business to share positive, insightful
stories about caring
communities, service projects or individuals who use their time and resources
for the betterment
of others."~ Shannon Cardellina, Doctors Care
...I was working at Planned Parenthood for $3.50 an hour - that felt
like a major donation!"
~ Linda Tyler, Longmont Humane Society

Everyday philanthropy
Each day we all make small choices that collectively make a large impact.
Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a television for three
hours. Foregoing a morning latte can provide a week of medical treatment and
food for a sheltered animal. Collecting 50 cents in spare change can pay for the
immunization of an uninsured child. Considerate actions and incremental giving
make us all "everyday philanthropists". Thanks for taking the steps to create a
better community!
